A Day in the Life of a World Changer-Day 21

Show Up!

Four years ago TODAY I traveled to Ghana, West Africa with two of my amazing daughters, Marissa and Kylie, to keep a promise. See the news coverage here. This was the official start of an ambitious, maybe crazy, effort we call Save-A-Thon For Africa.

It was a lot of work and my daughters worked hard to make it happen in addition to the dozens of people who generously gave their money and encouragement so that we could make it happen. BUT, the key thing we did? SHOW UP!

There was no guarantee that we would achieve anything other than a fun and fascinating holiday trip with half my family. But, fast forward 4 years and the things we have been able to accomplish; the hundreds, maybe thousands,  of lives we have touched simply by first showing up blows my mind and warms my heart.

Woody Allen has said “80% of life is showing up.” He’s right.

Whether it be in relationships, work, fitness and sports, school, or whatever, you have to show up. The best guarantee you will do little or nothing in your life, and leave so much potential on the table, is to stay in bed. Stay comfortable. Stay small.

Yes, you might fail. You might get rejected. You might hurt.

BUT, you also might succeed. You might be accepted and loved. You might feel the exquisite joy that is reserved only for those who see a chance and take it.

I need to show up more. Why don’t I? Why don’t you? Well, I am guessing it’s fear but this memory of a pivotal time I showed up with two of my beloved “people” has reminded me that the value of showing up can have far-reaching impact beyond our wildest dreams. I want more of that!

Starting right now, I’m going to start showing up more often, especially to things that scare me! Hope you will, too.

Here is today’s VLOG:

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Watch the videos. Share them. Comment on them. Give me something. Tell me you hate them. Tell me you love them. What I want is feedback that will help me increase the impact I am making. And if you get inspired along the way then great. They say money talks so if you want to provide feedback financially then go here to make a donation and “talk” to me. “Talk” to the thousands of youth I am trying to reach and help.

Let’s go!
